What is Affiliate Marketing?

This is where you promote other people’s (or company’s) products through an affiliate network and earn commissions when people buy the product through your link. Publishers/merchants share their revenues with marketers who triggered the sales.

In affiliate marketing, you can be either a merchant or an affiliate marketer and you can work from home or anywhere you wish.

If you have one or several products and want to increase the sales, you can let the marketers assist you in promoting your products and give them with a little share of the sale price.

If you don’t have your own products, worry less because you can be an affiliate marketer. Go ahead and choose the products that feel valuable to you, promote them and wait for income to flow as sales rise.

Earning as a marketer depends on the number of sales you make, which depends on your marketing skills. There is no limit to your earning as an affiliate.

However, whichever route you choose is capable of bringing you hundreds or millions of dollars each month.

Affiliate marketing needs not to be intimidating or hidden in a mystery. Rather, it should be clear and understandable even to those who are new in this industry.

The basic principles of affiliate marketing are naturally sensible and align with the number of businesses that have operated since the beginning compared to those who have evolved to the online marketing.

It is a kind of performance-based marketing where the affiliates get rewarded withcommission by a seller for a successful sale directed by their referral links. Basically, this in not very distinct compared to the traditional times where salespeople would earn commissions after driving in successful sales or sign ups.

The Fundamental Principles of Affiliate Marketing

1. Choose a good niche. When selecting your niche, decide on a topic. You need to search online to ensure that your niche is not saturated already. In case you find it saturated with well-designed and high ranking websites, consider finding another niche.

2. Look for affiliate networks that offer the products or services that fit your niche. Such networks include Clickbank, JVZoo, Amazon, among others. I have a list of these at the last chapter of this book; you can jump ahead and look- if you like.

3. Practice good keyword searching. You can get a wide diversity of keyword tools from the internet, some for free and others at reasonable prices. In addition, a variety of blogs and tutorials that explains how to use these tools is available online. Use them to your advantage. Efficiently research the best-converting keywords. In most cases, several long tailed keywords are preferred in every page you create, but don’t overuse them.

4. Create a website. Choose a theme and get a developer design a website for you. As well, you can get web hosts that offer themes and plugins to fit your needs such as WordPress, so that you just go ahead and start posting.

5. Provide high quality and unique content on your website, while requesting comments at the end. Information related to your niche is already out there, so it’s upon you to twist and improve the topics, adding complements and solving the issues others may have made. Additionally, ensure that the titles are attractive and shareable, the content is awesome and everything revolves around the keywords.

6. Below or in-between the review posts, share your affiliate links so that the readers can buy the product if the comprehensive information they just read impresses them. However, don’t make a mistake of sharing affiliate links on every post as this would saturate your site. Do this only if your website specializes on product reviews, such as the TopTenReviews. You could include other great information and guidance in the site to increase your ranking.

7. Distribute your posts through social media networks to inform the world of your freshly published pages and videos. While posting, make sure you add some caption text along with the URL to your page or video. In addition to making naturally sharable posts, you can get your friends help you share the posts across the networks, or even use PPC advertising.

8. Send your newly published posts to your email subscribers and urge them to forward the email to others who they think might be interested.

These are the most essential basics of affiliate marketing. You only need to join a good merchant or affiliate network and promote the products they offer using the above principles. This will help you succeed as an affiliate marketer as soon as you start.
